Buffalo routers have been amazing work horses for many years but their latest version suffers from lack of compatibility with Comcast’s motorola modems. WHR-HP-G300N and WHR-G300N with firmware v.1.7 WILL NOT reliably connect to Comcast. It is not an issue of rebooting the Motorola because of a change in MAC address. It is the inability of the router to receive a DHCP IP Number. Switching out the firmware to DD-WRT resolves the issue.
UPDATE: Flash the firmware to v. 1.82, move the switch on the side from AUTO to ON, change the Internet/Lan settings to “Obtain DHCP” and reboot. Not exactly plug and play but it appears to work.
