When I say this is the ultimate inkjet printer, I am not speaking in hyperbole. This is the printer that inkjet technology was reaching for when it was first envisioned. The print head is 8.5″ wide. That means it is immobile. It doesn’t move side to side, it doesn’t have to microweave the dots. When you print, this printer grabs a sheet of paper and pushes it out in one continuous movement.
Replacing the small printhead was only the start. Improving the ink cartridge was the 2nd big change. Gone is the tiny 3-in-1 cartridge that was good for a couple hundred pages. In it’s place are separate color bricks capable of printing thousands of pages. The cartridges are designed to last, do not time out, and will not report being empty when there is plenty of ink. This brings down the cost per page to something well below the cost of a color laser print.
